Case Study: Federal Communications
Commission
(FCC)
Situation:
The Federal Communications Commission needed a forward-looking brand and professional-quality marketing materials for its first-ever systematic recruitment campaign. The recruitment targets ranged from highly specialized communications engineers, attorneys, and economists, to entry- and mid-level financial and administrative support personnel.
MarCom
Group Solution:
MarCom Group interviewed the FCC Chairman and conducted focus groups with FCC employees and recent hires in the target occupations. Based on the research, we defined the brand image and created a dozen forward-looking logo designs and three candidate graphic identities for the agency. Working closely with the FCC Chairman, we honed the final selections and tested them with the focus groups. We incorporated the final logo and graphic identity into a portfolio brochure, position data sheets, a trifold brochure, a tabletop booth graphic, and a video/CD. We also re-developed the recruitment section of the FCC website.
Results
The
FCC has deployed the new logo to appear on all FCC-approved electronic
devices. The graphic identity proved so successful that the agency
continues to use it for internal documents, such as the FCC University
training catalog, and for all of its recruitment materials.
